- Basic Testosterone Test-
Testosterone, Total and Free; Measures the total level of testosterone, including the small portion circulating freely in the body.
The majority of testosterone that our bodies produce are bound two proteins: sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) and albumin. The very little (2%) free and unbound testosterone is circulating in the bloodstream and ready to be used by the system on demand.
Total testosterone test measures free testosterone plus the amount of hormone bound to the proteins albumin and (SHBG). Free and albumin-bound hormone are "bioavailable" and thus active in the body.
Free testosterone enables cell functionality.
Free hormone is responsible for numerous functions including the development of male features, muscle mass - IE, cell function in bones and muscles.
It is important to measure the levels of total and free testosterone since the free levels shows proper functions carried on by these unbound hormones.
Estradiol; Measures the level of estradiol with increased sensitivity for men and post-menopausal women. One of the “three” estrogen hormones, but plays a complex role in the male reproductive system; an example is the production of sperm.
Complete Blood Count; (CBC) with Differential (DIFF/PLT) — Measures red and white blood cells, hematocrit, hemoglobin (H&H) and platelets. Indicator for anemia, infection and leukemia.
Comprehensive Metabolic Panel 16; (CMP16) — CMP blood test measures levels of 16 individual components to assess overall health. This checkup includes tests for aspartate aminotransferase (AST) test - liver damage indicators + Alanine aminotransferase (ALT), which show us signs of liver damage, such as jaundice (yellow skin/eyes).
Follical Stimulating Hormone (FSH) & Luteinizing Hormone; (LH) identify any problem associated with your pituitary gland, reproductive system, and hypothalamus. Helps determine if your pituitary gland is functioning properly in the production of testosterone.
Prostatic Specific Antigen; (PSA) is a protein produced by prostate cells. The PSA test is done to help diagnose and follow prostate cancer in men.
Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH); identifies how well your thyroid is working - showing over or under active, also helps evaluate your pituitary gland.
Lipid Profile; Cholesterol test for LDL, HDL, Total and Triglycerides. Triglycerides are the most common type of fat in our bodies.
HDL stands for high-density lipoproteins: "good" cholesterol
LDL stands for low-density lipoproteins. "bad" cholesterol
